Overview of Family Centered Maternity Care:

The Family Centered Maternity Care unit features 20 beds dedicated to the care of postpartum mothers and their infants, addressing various health conditions such as diabetes and pre-eclampsia.

This unit includes a nursery designed for well-babies who require extended care post-discharge from their mothers.

As a Baby-Friendly designated facility, our unit fosters a collaborative environment where staff engage closely with the neonatal intensive care unit, intensive care unit, and cardiovascular and pulmonary teams.


Role of the Nurse Assistant:

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Nurse Assistant performs essential patient care tasks aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.

Responsibilities include contributing to the planning and execution of patient care, responding to emergencies in accordance with established protocols, and actively participating in ongoing education.

The Nurse Assistant is expected to uphold the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all professional interactions.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; CNA certification is preferred.
  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant training program (titles may vary, such as Patient Care Technician or Patient Assistant Technician).
  • Alternatively, candidates may be enrolled in a nursing program with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
  • Foreign-trained and licensed RNs relocating to the United States without a Michigan RN license are also eligible.
  • Experience as a Medical Assistant, with or without prior experience, is acceptable.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role (NA, PCT, PAT, etc.) is required.
