Coding Manager Job Description

Cotiviti is seeking a highly skilled Coding Manager to lead our team of coders in delivering high-quality coding services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the production and quality of coding services, including managing staff, hiring, promoting, evaluating, and training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Director of Coding to develop and implement coding production plans, quality goals, and project priorities.
  • Facilitate production meetings with Reporting, Data Capacity operations planning, and leadership to ensure smooth coding operations.
  • Resolve issues impacting coding production and quality, working closely with chart retrieval staff, IT, Production Analytics, HR, Trainers, and the QA team.
  • Monitor coding productivity and quality, addressing coder work performance concerns through meetings with the Coder and/or coding vendor leadership.
  • Construct and communicate internal system reports for all coders, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure completion of various chart types from a production and quality accuracy perspective.
  • Frequently meet with clients to provide meaningful updates on project progress, working closely with client success and coding quality to ensure successful deliverables.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and Coding certification (RHIA, RHIT, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H) or 4 years equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of HCC medical coding, record abstraction experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Ability to establish, monitor, and enforce staffing schedules and production schedules.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify trends, outliers, or areas that need attention from both a production and quality perspective.
