Job Summary

This position is located in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a leading organization in the healthcare industry. As a Lead Health Insurance Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing leadership and advice on consumer-related private health insurance issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, and work products and services.
  • Participate in briefings and make recommendations to CCIIO/CMS leadership on major policy or operational decisions related to consumer protection provisions of the Affordable Care Act.
  • Perform all activities associated with managing the required OMB process for CMS regulations, issuances, and policy documents that includes the required Paperwork Reduction Act and economic and public burden impact studies.
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must have at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector. This experience must include:

  • Leading teams and/or cross-team collaboration related to running operations or overseeing projects to achieve program goals;
  • Providing technical assistance and/or guidance to stakeholders on policies, regulations, or operational requirements related to private health insurance;
  • Writing or developing federal regulations, policy, or program guidance;
  • Understanding of program operations, technical requirements and procedures to ensure the successful implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and their implementing regulations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
