Experienced Tour Guide Interpreter

The Jekyll Island Authority is seeking a dynamic and engaging Tour Guide/Interpreter I to join our team. This part-time position offers an excellent opportunity to share the rich history and natural beauty of Jekyll Island with visitors from around the world.
Job Summary:We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for education and community outreach. As a Tour Guide/Interpreter, you will be responsible for providing engaging and informative tours to school groups, motor coach groups, and the general public. You will also assist with developing new programs, including research, special projects, archival organization, and curatorial duties.
Responsibilities:- Conduct guided tours of the Jekyll Island Club National Historic Landmark District and other public education programs.
- Provide quality educational experiences for visitors of all ages.
- Drive tour tram as assigned.
- Ensure guest safety and provide security for museum properties and collections.
- Assist with general clerical duties, including answering phones and distributing messages correctly.
- Be cross-trained to assist with retail and ticket sales and staffing museum historic property rentals.
- Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree in history, public history, or museum studies is preferred.
- Minimum of two years related experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
- A positive and friendly personality is a must.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical workday may be spent walking, sitting, and standing.

The estimated salary for this position is $28,000 - $32,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include parking access, amenity passes, and participation in the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan (GDCP).
