General Mechanic

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for diesel engines and construction equipment? We’re looking for an experienced General Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll handle setup, repairs, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and parts installation for Caterpillar diesel-powered equipment. Work independently or with guidance from our seasoned service mentors in a role that’s crucial to our operations and customer satisfaction.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 6+ years of hands-on experience with diesel engines or construction equipment, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Tools: Must own a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools (drives, sockets, wrenches).
- Availability: Willing to work a standard five-day schedule with overtime and occasional weekends as needed.
- Skills: Strong professionalism, adaptability, customer service focus, and excellent communication.
- Knowledge: Proficient in construction equipment mechanics and troubleshooting, with analytical problem-solving abilities.
- License: Valid state driver’s license required; CDL may be necessary for Field Technicians.
Your Role:
- Technical Expertise: Read and interpret technical manuals, service guides, and schematics. Utilize test equipment effectively.
- Service Quality: Provide high-quality repair services, address customer needs efficiently, and ensure optimal value for your work.
Education:
- Preferred: Training in diesel engines, construction equipment, or truck engines from accredited institutions or relevant military experience.
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7 am – 5 pm, with the possibility of overtime and occasional weekends.
- Position is temp-to-hire, with an initial 90-day period.
Work Environment:
- Safe, clean conditions with some exposure to hazards. Proficiency in safety procedures is essential.
- Effective communication and a positive attitude are key.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and meet all driving eligibility requirements for company vehicles.
Physical Requirements:
- Pass a pre-employment background check, physical exam, and drug screen.
- Ability to lift 50-80 pounds occasionally.
