Position Overview

Tower Health Neonatologist:

The Department of Neonatology at Tower Health is in search of a dedicated full-time Neonatologist for the NICU.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care and possess experience in medical education.

The Neonatologist should exhibit exceptional interpersonal abilities and have a proven track record of working within a collaborative healthcare environment. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Phoenixville Hospital is classified as a Level 2B unit, providing care for infants born at 32 weeks gestation or later. The hospital handles over 1500 deliveries annually, with the NICU admitting more than 100 infants each year. The unit operates around the clock, staffed by a team of 4 board-certified neonatologists and 1 neonatal nurse practitioner. Additionally, the neonatologists oversee the Newborn Nursery. Our registered nurses average 10 years of experience in neonatal intensive care. The current team follows a 24-hour shift schedule, with an experienced neonatal nurse practitioner available some nights, allowing for a favorable work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capable of functioning effectively in a Level II NICU
  • Proficient in managing infants requiring CPAP and ventilation support
  • Deliver educational guidance to Residents
  • Provide family-centered medical care
  • Average Daily Census: 4-5 infants (NICU) and 15 (well newborn)
  • 8 - 24 hour shifts within a 4-week schedule

Qualifications

  • An MD, DO, or equivalent international degree with active board certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • A minimum of 3 years of post-training experience
  • Academic qualifications for a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor are preferred.
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and understanding of community needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Proven experience as the primary physician in a Level II NICU
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to secure an unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania prior to employment.
  • Unrestricted DEA certification
