Job Summary:

The incumbent provides comprehensive primary care services for patients under 21 years of age by performing the following functions.


Key Responsibilities:

• Provides outpatient services for all patients under 21 years of age registered to Spectrum Health Services, Inc.

• Provides non-obstetrical care for the pediatric population at the site.

• Examines patients for symptoms or physical information and follows up on abnormal laboratory results.

• Reviews patient medical records, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.

• Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for health wellness, admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.

• Documents patient visits, including physical exams, diagnoses, and plans of action.

• Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene, and methods for preventing disease.

• Refers patients to medical specialists for consultant services when necessary for their well-being.

• Confers with staff of other agencies, hospitals, schools, and community services to establish and maintain continuity of care.

• Responds to and assists with any medical emergencies that may occur at the site.

• Assists in establishing clinical protocols for Spectrum Health Services, Inc.

• Participates in Quality Improvement activities and peer review activities as required.

• Participates in rotation of after-clinic hours for telephone coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

• Three to five years' experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.

• A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an approved medical school required.

• Board Certified in Pediatric Medicine required.

• Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Certificate required.

• Current driver's license required.

• Current CMEs required.

• BLS certification required.
