Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verifies physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate patient care
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Completes timely quality control procedures and performs notification/remediation as warranted
  • Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory, staff schedules, and equipment maintenance
Requirements
  • Completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program
  • Preferred: Radiologic technology experience
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current unrestricted license in the state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
Physical and Environmental Demands

Heavy Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including 24/7, weekend, holiday, and on-call availability.

Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.

Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands, and manual dexterity.

Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.

The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain diseases.

There may be an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment.
