Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel/Hybrid/Battery Electric Mechanic to join our team at LTD Lane Transit District. As a key member of our Fleet Maintenance section, you will be responsible for performing skilled mechanical tasks in the diagnosis of malfunctions, preventive maintenance, and repair of various types of transit equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance of diesel, hybrid, and electric drive transit coaches, and standard passenger vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment and system malfunctions.
  • Inspect, test, adjust, repair, and replace complete or integral parts of gasoline, diesel, hybrid, electrical engines, transmissions, drive units, drive shafts, differentials, lubrication, cooling, electrical (including high voltage), exhaust, and air or hydraulic systems.
  • Overhaul and test engines and transmissions to specifications; disassemble, clean, inspect, replace worn or defective parts, and reassemble them.
  • Install, maintain, and repair a variety of auxiliary systems, equipment, and electronics.
  • Fabricate and machine parts and perform acetylene and electrical welding and blacksmithing.
  • Operate hydraulic lifts, hoists, jacks, cranes, diagnostic computers, and software.
Requirements
  • Four years of experience in mechanical repair in medium to heavy duty truck and/or bus maintenance.
  • Associates degree in Applied Science, such as Automotive/Diesel Technology, electronics, Engineering, or graduation from an approved technical, trade, or vocational school.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE - Certification, Master Transit bus preferred.
  • A valid Oregon State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the District's insurance carrier.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Class B CDL with a P (Passenger Endorsement) issued by the State of Oregon within three months of employment.

Work is performed in internal and external environments with exposure to all weather conditions and potentially confrontational and challenging situations.
