Position Title: Educational Support Specialist

Location: SOS Group

Compensation: $14.50 per hour

Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Position Overview: We are looking for a committed and empathetic individual to fill the role of Educational Support Specialist. In this capacity, you will collaborate with classroom educators to deliver assistance and support to students, especially those with unique learning requirements or disabilities. This position presents a fulfilling opportunity to significantly influence students' educational journeys and foster their academic and personal development. A background check as per state and federal regulations is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the classroom educator in executing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Provide individualized or small group assistance to students, including those with specific educational plans (IEPs) or special needs.
  • Assist students with their assignments, projects, and activities, ensuring comprehension and engagement.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that enhances learning and student achievement.
  • Observe and document student progress and behavior as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with educators, administrators, and other support personnel to devise and implement strategies for student achievement.
  • Help maintain classroom organization and management, including the upkeep of materials and resources.
  • Offer support during transitions, lunch periods, recess, and other non-instructional times as required.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree is required.
  • Experience in working with children or adolescents in an educational environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about special education principles and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students, educators, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere commitment to aiding student success.
  • Capability to follow instructions, work autonomously, and collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to address the diverse needs of students and respond to evolving priorities.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology tools are preferred.
