Job Summary

The Section Chief of Geriatrics is a key leadership position within the Department of Medicine at Dartmouth Health. This role is responsible for the overall direction, operation, and management of the Section of Geriatrics, ensuring alignment with the Department's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the Section, including clinical, educational, and research initiatives.
  • Lead the Section's leadership team, including Associate Chiefs and Program Leaders, to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
  • Ensure high-quality patient care, teaching, and research within the Section, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Manage the Section's budget, including fiscal and operational planning, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with referring physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare organizations within the region.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional leadership development opportunities, staying up-to-date with best practices and emerging trends in geriatric medicine.
Requirements
  • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO) and postgraduate training in a relevant field.
  • Board certification in geriatrics or a related field, with a strong track record of leadership and management experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective plans and initiatives.
