Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement workstation standards for Windows and macOS environments
  • Manage desktop and laptop images for both Windows and macOS to ensure consistency across the enterprise
  • Packaging and distributing software applications using RMM tools such as Kaseya VSA or Jamf
  • Deploying new operating systems, ensuring compatibility with enterprise applications and hardware for both Windows and macOS
  • Applying security patches and updates to operating systems and applications on both Windows and macOS to maintain compliance and security
  • Implementing and managing endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, anti-malware, and encryption tools, for both Windows and macOS devices
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining Group Policies for Windows and configuration profiles for macOS to enforce security settings, deploy software, and manage user environments across the enterprise
  • Providing advanced troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues on Windows and macOS desktops and laptops
  • Monitoring desktop performance on both Windows and macOS and making adjustments to improve user experience and system efficiency
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of all Windows and macOS desktop and laptop hardware, including tracking of assets through their lifecycle
  • Ensuring Windows and macOS desktops and laptops comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Developing scripts and automation tools using PowerShell, Bash, zsh, and AppleScript to streamline desktop management tasks, such as deployment, patching, and monitoring, for both Windows and macOS environments
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for end-users and IT staff and providing training on new systems and processes for both Windows and macOS platforms
  • Collaborating with other IT teams, including desktop support, IT help desk, network, security, server, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and support of enterprise systems across Windows and macOS
  • Participating in incident and problem management processes, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence for both Windows and macOS issues
  • Liaising with hardware and software vendors to resolve issues, assist with negotiating contracts, and evaluate new products for both Windows and macOS environments
  • Leading or participating in IT projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives across both Windows and macOS platforms
  • Maintaining and enforcing desktop configuration management policies, ensuring consistency and reliability across Windows and macOS environments
  • Assessing current and future desktop hardware and software needs, making recommendations for upgrades and replacements as necessary for both Windows and macOS
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in computer science or related field or directly related year for year experience
  • 1+ years' experience as a Desktop Engineer or equivalent role required
  • In-depth experience with Windows and macOS desktop operating systems
  • Proficiency in OS deployment, patch management, and group policy management
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer
  • Experience with software packaging and distribution tools like Kaseya VSA, Jamf, ManageEngine, Ivanti, and InTune
  • Proficiency in automation scripting using PowerShell, Bash, zsh, and AppleScript
  • Knowledge of endpoint security solutions including antivirus, anti-malware, and encryption tools
