Caregiver for Developmentally Disabled Individuals

This position provides services to developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill individuals in a residential, home-based, and community settings. The incumbent will provide daily living skills, therapeutic activities, and personal healthcare, including bathing, dressing, grooming, housekeeping, and homemaking tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily living skills to individuals served
- Ensure the health and safety of individuals served
- Keep records of services performed and individual's condition and progress
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities
- Experience working with individuals who are mentally and physically disabled and/or display behavioral challenges
- Valid New Mexico Driver's License
- Defensive Driving Certification from the State of New Mexico
- Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) course
Work is performed in an office setting as well as in the community-based homes of the individual. The incumbent may be exposed to unpredictable violent behavior of the individual. Daily driving is required to meet the needs for individuals served. Occasional overnight stay may be required.
