Job Summary: The Systems Engineer III will act as a technical authority in the realm of infrastructure associated with manufacturing information systems. This role involves identifying strategies and designing solutions to ensure a high level of service for application end-users. The engineer will collaborate closely with fellow engineers, analysts, and management to gather feedback on design and implementation. Furthermore, the engineer will provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for manufacturing systems.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversee the maintenance, optimization, troubleshooting, upgrading, installation, and documentation of infrastructure related to manufacturing applications, including Linux and Windows servers, switches, firewalls, DNS, hypervisors/virtual servers, storage arrays, IPAM, access controls, and related systems.
  • Manage both new and existing technologies, including the design, documentation, installation, configuration, maintenance, integration, and testing of manufacturing-related systems.
  • Work collaboratively with business users to determine hardware, middleware, and application needs.
  • Partner with software developers, manufacturing engineers, DevOps engineers, analysts, and management to ensure the integrity of databases, application software, and manufacturing data.
  • Conduct regular system monitoring to verify the integrity, health, and availability of all systems and key processes, reviewing application and system logs, and ensuring the completion of scheduled jobs.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives regarding system and service issues, and facilitate support with external personnel, organizations, and vendors as necessary.
  • Stay informed about technology trends and introduce innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Develop new deliverables as required based on operational needs while adhering to best practices for documentation and distribution.
  • Perform troubleshooting for hardware and applications related to the manufacturing process.
  • Configure and deploy devices and peripherals as required.
  • Address issues, problems, and inquiries on-site as assigned through a ticketing system.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including SOX compliance.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To maintain health and safety in the workplace, wearing PPE may be necessary, which could include equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and other protective gear.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Basic/Required: Bachelor’s degree in information systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Essential Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a large business or enterprise environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in data center operations.
  • Technical expertise in cloud infrastructure (such as AWS or Azure), enterprise networking, virtualization (such as VMware or Hyper-V), Server OS (Windows, Linux), Storage Arrays, and data center hardware.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Ability to train and support users on information technology issues.
  • Proficient in preparing clear and concise written documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptable environment and quickly learn new tools and concepts.
  • Creative thinker with strong analytical, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Approachable and adaptable; this is a dynamic environment where priorities frequently shift.
  • Willingness to work extended hours or outside of regular business hours, including weekends as needed.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must possess working-level proficiency in the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.
