Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company and government agency requirements, as well as mitigating and eliminating risks associated with our operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in EHS, with a minimum of 3-7 years of experience in a manufacturing setting. A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as physical science or engineering, is preferred. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Documenting and validating compliance with company and government agency requirements
  • Providing strategic advice to management to ensure residual risk remains within company acceptable limits
  • Coordinating, implementing, and executing safety programs for the site
  • Conducting regular inspections and audits of EHS programs
  • Assisting operations in identifying hazards, risks, controls, and barriers to ensure safe operations
  • Administering the site investigation program for accidents and incidents
  • Reviewing changes for impacts to safety and assessing application of RAGAGEP in equipment changes
  • Identifying safety training needs and developing and maintaining training calendars
  • Validating and maintaining EHS training records and related documents
  • Performing or coordinating industrial hygiene and ergonomics evaluations
  • Anticipating, identifying, evaluating, and isolating safety hazards and risks
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, governing bodies, and certification bodies
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining EHS work instructions, procedures, forms, and logs
  • Participating in educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and attending seminars and webinars
  • Working with facility management and corporate governing teams to establish strategic goals
  • Ensuring EHS programs for contractor oversight and management are in place and effective
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the EHS team and employees
  • Participating in review and approval process of new raw materials for R&D and production
  • Planning and advising other departments about safety and environmental regulations compliance
  • Advising and sharing information with Mitsubishi Chemical America (MCA), affiliates, and other Mitsubishi companies
  • Leading the emergency response team for any emergency, including spills, exotherms, and first aid
  • Following safety and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
  • Supporting the employee-led safety committee through education and advice
  • Supporting and executing the deployment of other EHS duties and projects as assigned or required by top-management
