Job Overview:
The Lewistown Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration of all Forestry and Trust Land Division programs within the Lewistown Unit. This includes managing personnel, budgets, and ensuring a safe working environment for unit personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer activities of all Forestry and Trust Land Division programs within the Lewistown Unit, ensuring compliance with established goals, policies, and procedures.
- Supervise personnel and manage budgets for the Lewistown Unit.
- Ensure a safe working environment for unit personnel.
- Manage trust land to produce optimum revenue for trust beneficiaries while protecting trust resources.
- Investigate violations of land use agreements and take enforcement action.
- Act as the principal MEPA decision maker for the Lewistown Unit.
- Participate in meetings with other agencies, industries, and NGOs.
- Ensure USDA farm program compliance.
- Act as the Line Officer for fires within the unit and may serve as a line officer or representative for other work units/areas.
- Supervise the billing, reception, and transfer of revenue.
- Ensure the maintenance of Lewistown Unit records.
Supervision:
This position will supervise two Full-Time Employees, consisting of two Range Management Specialists.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a field of natural resource management, forestry, wildlife biology, fire management, recreation management, range science, or a directly related field with four years of related natural resource management experience that includes program management and supervisory responsibilities.
A Master's degree in the above field can be substituted to include three years of related experience in areas listed.
Completion of DNRC Line Officer training within one year of employment.
The incumbent must be experienced in land management, including agriculture, grazing, and mineral lease administration.
The incumbent must be physically able to perform fire line officer duties.
This position must be able to complete field work, including the ability to work independently in rough terrain in all weather conditions.
This position must be able to work administratively within a wildfire environment.
Special Information:
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.
Eligibility to Work:
In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States.
