Key Responsibilities:
This role is centered on pioneering scientific research and innovative experimental methodologies to evaluate explosion risks linked to new renewable energy technologies.
Areas of focus encompass hydrogen safety, thermal runaway phenomena in lithium-ion batteries, and the dynamics of flames in gas and dust explosions.
The primary aim is to establish a scientific basis for models and tools that address real-world challenges in industrial and commercial property safety.
The experimental and analytical investigations conducted in this position will have the unique advantage of being executed and validated at full scale at our dedicated research facility.
This is a limited-term position, with a potential duration of up to three years, subject to annual renewal. The role is designed to produce publishable research as part of a strategic initiative under the mentorship of a program manager or senior research personnel.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, or applied physics.
Strong foundational knowledge in combustion, gas dynamics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and applied mathematics.
Extensive hands-on experience with experimental techniques, including optical diagnostics, and the development of analytical models in thermal-fluid sciences, particularly in combustion research.
Prior research experience in hydrogen safety, battery technologies, or premixed combustion, including spherical flame propagation, is advantageous.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to devise innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
The final compensation package will be determined based on geographic location, individual qualifications, skills, and experience.
