This role contributes significantly to the university's objectives through education, research, and community service, with specific responsibilities varying by academic unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct medical students, residents, and fellows in the disciplines of Surgery and Surgical Critical Care within the Department of Surgery;
  • Deliver clinical services and patient management while maintaining accurate clinical documentation;
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives and scholarly writing;
  • Engage in community outreach and university service activities.

Additional Responsibilities

Essential Qualifications
Possession of an M.D., D.O., or an equivalent foreign medical degree;
Eligibility to secure a Texas Medical License;
Completion of a residency program in General Surgery;
Completion of a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care;
Board Eligible or Board Certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
