Job Title: Mobile Mental Health Clinician

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program, a cross-departmental program between the City Manager's Office, Police, and Fire Departments, and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide field and office-based professional behavioral health counseling, psychoeducation, outreach, and engagement services.
  • Collaborate with emergency response teams to improve public safety responses to individuals experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with community groups, organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Assist clients in understanding clinical health challenges and their reaction to them, accepting the need for treatment, and building on strengths.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community resources and organizations.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • Valid professional mental health therapy license issued by the State of California.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License.
  • At least two years' experience working in the social work or counseling field with a strong emphasis on social services, resources, and referrals.
