Job Overview

We are looking for a Animal Care Technician to join our team on a part-time basis during weekends in our GEMS-Breed Department. The position requires availability on both Saturday and Sunday for shifts lasting between 4 to 6 hours each day.

The Animal Care Technician will be responsible for overseeing the health, productivity, and living conditions of Charles River or external client animals (specifically rodents) housed in isolators, micro-isolator cages, and/or ventilated cage systems.

This role begins as a temporary position with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role within Charles River.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, watering, and cleaning cages.
  • Execute breeding and sampling protocols to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the physical environment, uphold biosecurity measures, and accurately document departmental and animal records in the internal database.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operate equipment and supplies following safety and ergonomic guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  • No prior experience is necessary; training will be provided.
  • A reliable mode of transportation is required.
  • Availability to work both Saturdays and Sundays is essential.

The compensation for this position is $18.00 per hour. Please note that pay rates may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
