Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor team productivity and assign new accounts to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Establish new accounts by reviewing POAs and client information sheets, and initiate client start-up processes.
  • Train team members to take responsibility for new client accounts and maintain customer relationships.
  • Review and address accounting discrepancies, and manage employees including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation, and coaching.
  • Ensure accurate recording of time and attendance, and attend industry-related seminars and conferences to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Facilitate cargo clearance and transfer, confirming all necessary data and documents are available for entry.
  • Research and resolve operational or entry problems, and review commercial entries in accordance with U.S. Customs Border Protection and Partner Agencies regulations.
  • Verify entry details for compliance with calculation of duties, duty policy, Partner Government Agencies, trade agreements, prior notice, or specific requests by Customs for proper filing for release.
  • Monitor release and follow up on ABI/AMS messages, including rejects, holds, and exam messages, working with government personnel to ensure timely release of cargo.
  • Communicate release information internally and externally, and coordinate dispatching as required.
  • Identify billable services and complete/update billing documentation and systems.
  • Manage client profiles, update and maintain client information, and manage internal and external reports as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university preferred.
  • Minimum 4 to 7 years relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Brokerage License required for Customs Brokerage managers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
