About the Role

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic sonographic imaging procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging procedures for patients of all ages, as directed by physicians.
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment.
  • Review charts, previous reports, and requisitions prior to the exam.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
  • Assist with scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
  • Monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via PACS.
  • Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Immediately report any malfunctions to the help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Process billing via RIS.
  • Adequately supply exam rooms with linen and related medical supplies.
  • Assist with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education of staff members.
  • Assist with orienting new employees to the equipment, department procedures, and scanning protocols.
  • Demonstrate ultrasound equipment for staff and visitors.
  • Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
  • Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures, and equipment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing.
  • RDMS certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
