The Cashier plays a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction by addressing inquiries related to pricing, accepted materials, and payment methods for incoming materials. This position is essential in maintaining compliance with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with customers to clarify pricing and services offered.
- Process payments via cash or check, and issue receipts and change.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of basic mathematics and computer systems to facilitate transactions.
- Uphold the highest standards of customer service and operational excellence.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols established by the Metals Recycling Business, ensuring a safe environment for all stakeholders.
Operational Excellence:
Assist customers with inquiries about material pricing and types accepted, while fostering strong relationships to enhance service quality.
Ensure compliance with scrap quality standards and communicate acceptance procedures effectively.
Collaborate with office staff to guarantee accurate documentation of purchasing transactions and maintain records in the system.
Manage the reconciliation of purchases, bids, settlements, and accounts payable.
Additional Responsibilities:
May include backup operations for Truck Scale, which involves:
- Conducting scale operations and assessing incoming products.
- Operating scales to determine weights and directing customers appropriately.
- Calculating total payments based on commodity codes.
Qualifications:
A High School diploma or GED is preferred, along with 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role or within the scrap industry.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster cooperative relationships with customers and colleagues are essential.
Mathematical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and basic typing skills are required.
