About the Role

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Managing Director of Special Projects. This key leadership position will play a critical role in driving the implementation of strategic initiatives and policy changes across the Department of Social Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive implementation strategies to drive business outcomes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to senior leadership, including the Deputy Commissioner of HR Services.
  • Prepare and present data-driven reports to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies and procedures that support the City's social services mission.
  • Analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions to drive business results.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience in a large governmental agency, business firm, or civic organization operating in the area of social services. A master's degree or higher may be substituted for up to three years of experience.

Candidates must also have a valid New York State Registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) may substitute for three years of experience.
