Job Title: DSHS WSH Registered Nurse 4

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse 4 to join our team as a Shift Nurse Manager. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and clinical skills to manage hospital-wide operations, including medical, psychiatric, and facility emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct hospital-wide operations, including management of medical, psychiatric, and facility emergencies.
  • Communicate with all levels of the hospital organization, including the CEO, Medical Director, Center Director, and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Articulate and interpret nursing care standards and hospital policies to nursing teams and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Respond to and formulate complex reports, complete employee evaluations, and audits.
  • Serve as a liaison between WSH and community agencies, participating in the screening of patients for involuntary admission.
  • Ensure compliance with professional nursing standards, Medicare, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the deployment of nursing employees for safe patient care.
  • Direct, motivate, interview, recommend for hire, provide corrective action/progressive discipline, and recommend disciplinary actions.
  • Investigate staff and patient complaints as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and four years of professional nursing experience, including two years in a lead capacity over other nursing personnel.
  • A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing or higher degree involving major study in nursing may be substituted for two years of non-supervisory experience.
  • One year of full-time experience teaching nursing may be substituted for one year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Five years of experience working in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
  • Knowledge of CMS, WAC, and RCW regulations related to inpatient psychiatric hospitals.
  • Experienced in conducting medical chart reviews.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles of risk management or experience with team-oriented decision-making regarding clinical risk management.
