Lead Respiratory Therapist Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling in accordance with established protocols.
  • Administer prescribed pharmacological treatments and solutions effectively.
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs along with their reactions to therapies.
  • Adjust ventilator settings and assist in the placement of endotracheal tubes.
  • Complete necessary billing documentation and contribute to financial planning.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of respiratory equipment.
  • Educate patients regarding their therapies and medication regimens.
  • Maintain adherence to safety protocols and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • Licensure from the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners is essential.
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist is required.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP are necessary.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in acute care is required with a Bachelor's Degree, or 5 years without.
