Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. This is a full-time position that requires 1-2 years of experience in sterile processing and certification as an Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Registered Central Sterile Tech.

About the Role

This specialist will be responsible for the administration of sterile processing, including decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. They will also coordinate with other departments to ensure effective inventory control and quality management.

Responsibilities

  • Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
  • Act as liaison between SPD, Perioperative Services, Labor and Delivery, and Nursing Units
  • Provide input on PAR level adds, changes, and deletions
  • Take physical inventories of Floor Stock and SPD to ensure accuracy and integrity of the system
  • Understand, operate, and instruct associates on inventory control devices
  • Assist newly assigned Floor Stock associates in all facets of SPD functions
  • Ensure sound inventory control practices, such as stock rotation and care custody
  • Demonstrate competence to perform client care responsibilities
  • Adapt client assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate unique needs
  • Establish and follow policies and procedures for instrument and equipment decontamination and reprocessing
  • Adhere to infection control procedures related to decontamination and reprocessing
  • Lead implementation and/or monitoring of quality control programs
  • Participate in continuing education and formal training

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • IAHCSMM Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Tech required

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience
