You will also be responsible for obtaining necessary referrals, pre-certification, and/or authorizations, providing financial counseling, and calculating patient financial responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and validate patient demographic and insurance information
  • Complete patient registration and insurance verification
  • Secure signatures on regulatory documents
  • Obtain necessary referrals, pre-certification, and/or authorizations
  • Provide financial counseling and calculate patient financial responsibility
  • Collect patient monies owed and post payments in EPIC
  • Maintain and balance EPIC cash drawer daily
  • Monitor and maintain applicable EPIC work queues

Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent is required. A college degree or related coursework is preferred. One year of experience in a health-related industry or a related field such as insurance, business, billing, or collections is required. A working knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to recognize and react to changing priorities
  • Ability to make timely and accurate judgment decisions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
