Key Responsibilities- Environmental Policy and Strategy: Facilitate and implement environmental policies and strategic goals of sustainability for the department, ensuring alignment with the city's Climate Resiliency Plan.
- Solid Waste Management: Provide technical assistance and guidance to develop programs that enhance the city's solid waste, organic waste, and recycling programs, reducing the city's waste footprint.
- Electric Vehicle Implementation: Work closely with the Fleet division to provide strategic input for the city's EV implementation plan, ensuring a seamless transition to alternative fuel vehicles.
- Grant Acquisition: Assist in obtaining grants for Green and environmental initiatives, supporting the department's sustainability goals.
- Project Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and implement methods and procedures to monitor projects, research strategies, analyze findings, create progress reports, and inform leadership and partners of status to ensure effective collaboration.
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Complete, review, compile, and submit reports to comply with EPA, GAEPD, and City requirements, ensuring adherence to all applicable local, state, federal, and internal environmental laws and regulations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Meet with residents, city departments, and outside organizations to answer questions and present information on the department's environmental and sustainability initiatives.
- Strong Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with a strong vision for sustainability and environmental stewardship.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of environmental policies, regulations, and best practices, with experience in solid waste management, sustainability initiatives, and electric vehicle implementation.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including residents, city departments, and external organizations.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research, analyze, and develop solutions to complex environmental and sustainability challenges.
