Sales Manager Job Description

At Martin's Famous Pastry Shoppe, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sales Manager to join our team. As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and revenue in your assigned sales area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Staff, train, and develop sales employees to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Analyze sales statistics to identify trends and opportunities for growth, and develop strategies to capitalize on these opportunities.
  • Meet with key clients to build relationships, negotiate deals, and close sales.
  • Develop and implement local sales plans to align with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Monitor sales forecasting activities and set performance goals for sales teams.
  • Review market analyses to inform customer needs, price schedules, and sales strategies.
  • Assist with finding new distributors for open territories and training new distributors according to Company standards.
  • Maintain buyer contact with chain stores and independent store groups.
  • Prepare and manage promotional schedules for areas.
  • Review sales orders to maximize sales and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Encourage the use of sales and merchandising techniques with employees and existing distributors.
  • Work with sales teams to ensure proper display, point of purchase, and off-shelf locations for Company products.
  • Assist distributors and route salespersons with new store start-ups, rack installations, and product support.
  • Perform market checks for proper product quantity, mix, codes, display, and back stock pack-out.
  • Attend assigned store resets and store grand openings.
  • Work chain and independent store sampling events.
  • Handle issues impacting product delivery.
  • Learn and champion Martin's technology.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Monitor and evaluate the activities and products of the competition.
  • Listen to and resolve service complaints.
  • Maintain local fleet for preventive maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Manage product storage facilities.
  • Support other Sales Managers on a daily basis.
  • Adhere to safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University.
  • Three years supervisory experience.
  • Two years' related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suites and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to easily learn new technologies.
  • Experience in SharePoint preferred.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able and willing to work flexible schedule to include Sundays and Wednesdays and be on-call 24-7.
  • Ability to travel-approx. 20% overnight travel, 80% day travel within sales area.
  • Must possess or be able to pass a DOT physical if needed.
