Duke University Health System is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at Duke University Hospital. As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will play a critical role in the laboratory process, ensuring the timely and accurate collection and processing of patient specimens.
Key Responsibilities- Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and capillary puncture, to collect blood and other specimens from patients.
- Process and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, including labeling, sorting, and storing.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure accurate and efficient specimen collection and processing.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of specimen collection and processing, including patient information and laboratory results.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with laboratory regulations and standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Clinical Tech I or certification as a Phlebotomist required.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist by a nationally recognized board/agency required; Basic Life Support certification preferred.
