The Staff Accountant role at Jean-Georges Management is a critical position responsible for maintaining financial procedures and ensuring financial compliance through the preparation of the company's reports and statements.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary point of contact for the corporate office for all Accounts Payable tasks for the restaurant.
- Receive, process, and verify all invoices for the restaurant, ensuring timely payment to vendors.
- Communicate regularly with operators to ensure all invoices are received weekly and uploaded to the company dashboard.
- Manage payments to vendors, cutting checks weekly and mailing checks as necessary.
- Communicate with vendors on behalf of the restaurant and corporate office, resolving any issues or discrepancies.
- Set up new vendor accounts, request W9 forms, and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and maintaining a filing system for printed invoices.
- Conduct sales audits by reviewing and confirming Daily Sales Report (DSR) data for the restaurant, identifying and correcting any exceptions or errors.
- Ensure all Daily Sales Reports balance and post each Daily Sales Reports sales journal entry on a timely basis.
- Review P&L line-item expenses for completeness every month-end and accrue for any missing expenses identified.
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller to complete the month-end close.
- Manage the Paycor payroll system, onboard and offboard employees, and update pay information as necessary.
- Process weekly payroll for the restaurant and partner with General Managers to assist with operational administrative needs.
- Cross-train within other areas of the accounting function as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- General accounting knowledge and experience with accounting software, such as Compeat.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A team player with a strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity.
- A self-starter with excellent time management skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized and able to maintain a flexible schedule to meet business demands.
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully, meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds at times and sit for prolonged periods at a desk working on a computer.
- Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, frequently moving from place to place within the work area and property.
