We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant/Health Unit Coordinator to join our ICU team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Responsibilities- Assist RNs with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
- Measure and document patient data, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and intake/output.
- Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes under the supervision of RNs.
- Ensure patient call lights are always within reach and respond promptly to patient requests.
- Perform purposeful rounding and communicate patient observations, concerns, and needs to RNs.
- Assist with patient positioning and transporting duties, including lifting and pushing/pulling while utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and perform point-of-care testing as indicated.
- Maintain competency and adhere to infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Coordinate tests and treatments with and between various departments for patients on nursing units.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days.
- Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.
- Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), or High School Graduate.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
This position requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids. Protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
