KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess repair needs by evaluating damage and estimates; coordinate with other necessary services; gather parts, supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Execute all body and fender repairs using welding, body alignment, and structural techniques.
  • Restore vehicle bodies by removing, fabricating, attaching, and aligning components; repairing dents; filling and sealing depressions; hammering, shaping, shrinking, expanding, filing, grinding, sanding, smoothing, and feathering surfaces; applying various repair techniques and tools, including wrenches, cutting torches, dent pullers, hand tools, pneumatic and power tools, grinders, sanders, welders, and shears.
  • Ensure quality service by adhering to repair standards; conduct test drives and final inspections; rectify deficiencies; obtain customer approval.
  • Document all actions in repair order notes.
  • Maintain tools and equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshoot breakdowns; manage supplies; perform preventive maintenance; request repairs as needed.
  • Manage inventory by checking stock levels; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Uphold a safe working environment by following established safety standards and practices.
  • Enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities.
  • Contribute to the organization's reputation by taking ownership of new and diverse requests; seek opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions, at the shop location.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for extended periods is required.
  • Manual dexterity, fine manipulation, and the ability to reach with hands and arms, along with the capacity to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be capable of operating both simple and complex heavy-duty machinery.
  • Normal hearing and vision range is necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding written instructions.
  • A minimum of two years' experience as an automotive body technician.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background checks, physicals, and drug screenings.
