Biomedical Equipment Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Biomedical Equipment Specialist to join our team at London Approach. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of biomedical equipment, with a particular emphasis on ventilators and patient monitoring systems.
As a mid-level specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and safety of medical devices within a hospital environment. Experience with Phillips equipment and EPIC EHR software is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on biomedical equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Equipment Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic biomedical equipment, including ventilators and monitoring systems.
- Installation & Calibration: Install, calibrate, and configure biomedical equipment according to manufacturer specifications, ensuring accurate and reliable operation.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain detailed records and documentation within the hospital's computer system to meet compliance requirements and support quality assurance initiatives.
- Customer Support: Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to equipment issues reported by healthcare staff, often correcting user errors and ensuring minimal disruption to patient care.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clinical engineering teams, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to support the safe and effective use of medical equipment in various settings, including intensive care units and operating rooms.
- On-Call Duties: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely technical support during off-hours, ensuring continuous operation of critical medical devices.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an AAS degree in Electronic or Instrumentation Technology with a focus on Biomedical Engineering Technology is preferred.
- Experience: 4-6+ years of hands-on experience in a hospital or healthcare facility, or equivalent experience in the military or a comparable organization.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading schematics, mechanical diagrams, and technical manuals. Basic computer skills are required, with advanced networking and system integration knowledge considered a plus.
- Certifications: Possession of a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation for servicing offsite locations is required.
- Preferred Expertise: Familiarity with Phillips equipment and EPIC EHR software is strongly preferred.
