Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Review: Evaluate and interpret contract documents and specifications across various project types, including hard-bid/lump sum, construction management, and design-build.
  • Project Scheduling: Create critical path schedules with milestones to guarantee timely project delivery.
  • Quantity Estimation: Conduct thorough take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials for extensive scopes of work.
  • Pricing Strategy: Direct the pricing approach for general expenses and project-specific needs for medium to large-scale projects.
  • Estimate Preparation: Generate as-bid estimates and formulate trade buy-out strategies in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Client Engagement: Assist in crafting and presenting proposals and presentations to clients.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform risk and opportunity evaluations to integrate into the project's risk management framework.
  • Tender Management: Work alongside external consultants and oversee the tender development process.
  • Success Monitoring: Ensure that project-specific success criteria are achieved, providing innovative solutions to challenges.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent trade experience.
  • Gold Seal certification in estimating (CDN).
  • 12+ years of experience in construction cost estimating with onsite experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects valued up to $250 million.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, planning, and scheduling.
  • Extensive expertise in bid preparation, trade procurement, and bid closing.
  • Proficient in contract terms and risk identification.
  • Exceptional communication skills, particularly verbal.
  • Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Highly adaptable to manage diverse workloads.
  • A collaborative team player who supports colleagues.
  • Mentoring approach with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Self-driven and resourceful with excellent organizational skills.
