Bridge Engineering Leader

David Evans and Associates is seeking a skilled Bridge Engineering Leader to join our team. As a key member of our Transportation Business Unit, you will lead and perform technical bridge engineering, and project management on bridge projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bridge planning, design, construction engineering, in-service inspection, preservation, and rehabilitation projects. You will be responsible for leading project teams through the completion of various projects and task assignments in the role of Engineer, Task Leader, or Project Manager.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing bridge design deliverables, including concept reports, TS&L Reports, design calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and construction schedules
  • Managing projects to ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet or exceed the industry's standard of care
  • Checking engineering calculations, drawings, estimates, specifications, and construction schedule deliverables for accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements
  • Providing bridge design leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Managing, performing, and delivering condition inspection and reporting of in-service bridges
  • Managing, developing, and checking load rating calculations and reports
  • Participating in client and project development teams
  • Assisting pursuit champions and project managers in the development of proposal documents
  • Communicating with clients and expressing their needs to project teams

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of bridge engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Washington
  • Proficiency in structural design software applications, with an emphasis on bridge design software, such as SAP2000, Midas Civil, LARSA 4D, PG Super, Conspan, LPile, BRASS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Knowledgeable of AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Registered Structural Engineer (SE) in the state of Washington
  • Knowledgeable of WSDOT and Sound Transit bridge design standards
