Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Empath Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient processing and filling of pharmaceutical orders, while providing exceptional customer service to our patients and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and fill orders for pharmaceuticals, adhering to state and federal pharmacy laws.
  • Provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service to pharmacy customers.
  • Assist licensed pharmacists in the preparation of medications, as directed.
  • Complete accurate data entry of patient information, including billing and payer information, as well as prescriptions into the pharmacy application.
  • Access and navigate through clinical programs for informational purposes, as needed.
  • Utilize various software applications, including Microsoft Office, to perform daily tasks.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing, including non-sterile compounds, unit dose medications, and traditional vial dispenses.
  • Stock automated dispensing machines and generate reports to assist with inventory management.
  • Generate various reports, as requested, including statistical pharmacy volume reports and inventory reports.
  • Track prescriptions needing signature for verbally agented Schedule II medications and report to the Pharmacy Manager when signature is unable to be obtained after 7 days.
  • Triage incoming phone calls and route appropriately.
  • Understand the pharmacy dispatch process and deliver medications when requested by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the supervision of a pharmacy technician working under a licensed pharmacist.
  • Order inventory as needed, in the absence of the pharmacy purchasing and inventory specialist.
  • Manage physical and virtual inventory, including reporting, activating, deactivating, and creating new drugs, within the pharmacy application.
  • Perform various duties or projects, as assigned by the pharmacists and/or Manager.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy.
  • Valid Florida State Driver's License.
  • Meet continuing education requirements, as noted by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy Division.
  • Certifications, such as CPhT (certified pharmacy technician) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), are preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills, sufficient to use Windows operating system, Excel, Outlook, and perform daily word tasks.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize daily work.
  • Reliable transportation, for field-based positions, to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion.
  • Valid automobile insurance, with a copy placed in the employee's HR file.
