Senior Real Estate Counselor

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking a highly skilled Senior Real Estate Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our real estate department, you will be responsible for providing expert legal guidance on leasing and transaction matters.
Key Responsibilities- Negotiate and draft complex commercial real estate documents, including leases, purchase and sale agreements, and development agreements.
- Provide legal counsel to various stakeholders on lease provisions, operational issues, and disputes.
- Analyze title and survey reports to identify potential environmental risks and liabilities.
- Work closely with outside counsel to manage real estate-related litigation.
- Assist in updating the company's real estate documents and forms.
- Collaborate with local land use counsel on zoning, permitting, and incentives matters.
- Bachelor's degree and law degree from a top college or university.
- 8-10 years of experience as deal counsel, particularly in leasing and development, with significant experience on behalf of retail organizations.
- Familiarity with reciprocal easement agreements, development agreements, joint ventures, condominiums, bankruptcy, condemnation, sale leasebacks, assignments, and environmental matters.
- Strong negotiating skills and experience working with major national and east coast regional shopping center developers and landlords.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects without supervision.
This is a hybrid role, with Tuesday through Thursday spent in-office at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA, and Monday and Friday spent working remotely.
