Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment: Ensure the branch's cleanliness and safety by performing daily cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning ceiling vents.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate maintenance needs and issues to branch directors and recommend solutions to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Perform Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks of the facilities to identify and address potential issues.
  • Ensure Proper Inventory Management: Ensure the fulfillment of goods in designated areas, such as paper towels, soap, and sanitizer.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Workspace: Empty and clean wastebaskets throughout the branch and arrange equipment in the custodial storage areas in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Develop and Implement Cleaning Protocols: Work closely with the Y Safety Champion and Care Area Marshal to develop intense cleaning and disinfecting protocols in closed-off areas.
  • Represent the YMCA's Values and Mission: Promote the YMCA's character values, mission, wellness philosophy, and role in the community.
  • Lead by Example: Lead by example the Y's mission, vision, and values with program participants, members, staff, and guests.
  • Complete Additional Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Age and Education: 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Experience: Having experience in custodial or maintenance work settings is a plus but not required.
  • Organizational Skills: Organized, able to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple assignments.
  • Communication Skills: Listen for understanding and meaning, speak and write effectively.
  • Cultural Competence: Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, leveraging people's differences as strengths.
