The Community Mortgage Sales Officer plays a pivotal role in fostering mortgage sales and nurturing client relationships. This position engages with community clients, a diverse range of real estate professionals, and non-profit organizations focused on affordable housing, all while collaborating closely with the Consumer Product Sales team.

The individual in this role is accountable for promoting a specific suite of mortgage products directly to clients.


Key Responsibilities:


- Engage with clients to understand their financial circumstances, personal aspirations, and lending requirements, assisting them in achieving their home ownership dreams.

- Gather and evaluate data regarding the client's financial status, future plans, income, assets, liabilities, cash flow, and credit profile.

- Conduct a thorough analysis of financial information to determine the eligibility of clients and properties for various lending options.

- Provide tailored recommendations on lending solutions that align with the clients' financial and personal goals.

- Educate clients on the potential risks, benefits, and implications of different lending alternatives.

- Actively promote Citigroup's brand and its comprehensive financial services to real estate agencies, builders, and other referral sources.

- Conduct client meetings outside of the office, adapting to the needs of the clientele and market dynamics.

- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance customer support and growth.

- Refer clients seeking financial services beyond lending to the appropriate Citigroup professionals.

- Partner with Operations teams to ensure a smooth transition of loan applications, facilitating the necessary documentation for Processors and Underwriters.

- Work closely with Processors and clients to ensure timely loan closures.

- Cultivate relationships with key referral sources such as Realtors and Builders to drive mortgage business.

- Exercise sound judgment in business decisions, prioritizing the firm's reputation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

- Introduce clients to relevant segment partners when suitable.

- Stay informed about local market trends and regulatory changes, expanding both internal and external networks to better serve clients.

- Attend a minimum of 2-3 events focused on diverse Realtors and affordable housing non-profits each month.


Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage lending.

- Required experience in residential mortgage lending.

- A minimum of 3 years of prior mortgage sales experience.

- Established connections with diverse realtor organizations and affordable lending non-profits.

- Familiarity with community loan products, including specialized low-to-moderate income mortgage solutions.

- Proven track record of business development.

- Preferred experience with FHA/VA and conventional loans.

- Strong understanding of financial calculations and pricing options.

- Ability to guide clients on necessary documentation for loan applications.

- Knowledge of consumer lending regulations, including fair lending and privacy laws.

- Excellent customer service capabilities.

- Self-driven with the ability to work independently.

- Strong skills in relationship building and management.

- Comprehensive knowledge of general lending products and the mortgage industry.


This position necessitates registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry, along with obtaining a unique identifier prior to engaging in mortgage loan originator activities.

It is expected to originate a minimum of 3 loans monthly, with at least 50% being either CRA eligible or within minority areas.


Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.


As part of the registration process, fingerprinting is required unless fingerprints are already on file with the NMLS Registry and are less than 3 years old.

This role also requires maintaining and renewing registration annually, updating information with the Registry promptly, and providing the unique identifier to consumers as mandated by SAFE Act regulations and Citigroup policies.
