Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Manager to join our team at Oglethorpe Power. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all mechanical, electrical, civil, contract, and instrument & control maintenance to ensure that our power production facilities are properly maintained to provide reliable and efficient electric power generation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Maintenance Coordination: Coordinate and supervise all maintenance activities to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and operated in compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures, and all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of facilities.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage capital and operating budgets for maintenance responsibility area.
  • Technical Program Development: Coordinate development and implementation of technical, mechanical, electrical, civil, and I&C programs to ensure and enhance equipment longevity.
  • Maintenance Procedure Development: Coordinate development and review of maintenance procedures to ensure maximum safety of personnel and equipment, economy of operations, and effective utilization of manpower.
  • Cost Effectiveness Evaluation: Establish, monitor, maintain, evaluate, and re-evaluate cost effectiveness of all maintenance programs.
  • Problem Resolution: Analyze and resolve maintenance problems to ensure continuity and economy of operations.
  • Contractor Management: Manage major overhauls and outages, direct and monitor the performance of contractors.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate development and implementation of on-the-job training programs to obtain maximum proficiency of plant maintenance personnel.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, 4-year college degree preferred.
  • Experience: Twelve (12) years progressively responsible power plant maintenance experience, including gas fired, coal, hydro or nuclear units, with four (4) years of supervisory, management or leadership responsibilities.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong ability to work in a team environment, effective manager of personnel, ability to extract, comprehend and develop instructions from technical manuals, journals, and drawings, technical literature and other job-related material, and ability to communicate orally and in writing using the English language.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license which meets the insurance eligibility requirements under Oglethorpe Power's qualification program.
Travel and Unusual Hours
  • Travel: 15% travel required.
  • Unusual Hours: This position will require the associate to be on call at any hour to address emergency conditions at the plants, or operational and maintenance problems.
