Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Law Enforcement Officer to join our team at Hays County, TX. As a Deputy - School Resource Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, teachers, and staff at our schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high visibility at assigned schools to deter and prevent criminal activity
  • Develop and implement programs to promote positive relationships between law enforcement and the school community
  • Enforce civil and criminal laws of Texas, including responding to emergency situations and conducting investigations
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and staff to identify and address potential safety concerns
  • Testify in court as needed to support the enforcement of laws and regulations
  • Maintain patrol vehicle and equipment issued, and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Assist detectives and supervisors as needed to support the investigation and prosecution of crimes
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Hays County Sheriff's Office
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the required education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job
  • Prior Peace Officer experience preferred
  • Class C TX Driver's License
  • Licensed Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Basic Peace Officer
  • Ability to maintain continuing education requirements as outlined by TCOLE
  • Must successfully complete and pass the Hays County Sheriff's Office Field Training Program
  • Must be 21 years of age
