About ThedaCare

Position Overview:
The Safety and Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of individuals and property within ThedaCare facilities. This role involves patrolling designated areas, enforcing organizational and regulatory policies, and responding to emergencies. The specialist acts as a liaison for the safety department and facilities management during off-hours, coordinating responses to facility-related concerns. Collaboration with patient care teams is essential to develop safety protocols for staff and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Adhere to state regulations regarding holds and law enforcement procedures for interventions.
2. Foster relationships with law enforcement and emergency services to cultivate trust and respect.
3. Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents and document findings accurately.
4. Exhibit proficiency in de-escalating situations involving agitation or violent behavior.
5. Activate incident command protocols during emergencies or significant incidents.
6. Support emergency departments with hazardous material decontamination procedures.
7. Collaborate with various departments to assist patients, families, and team members in resolving issues effectively.

Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Preferred three years of experience in security roles.
• Eligibility for a Wisconsin Concealed Carry License.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, obtainable during training.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens while executing job responsibilities.

Work Environment:
• Frequent mobility within the facility.
• Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and chemicals.
• Possible high noise levels and exposure to communicable diseases.
• Regular use of computers and repetitive hand motions.
