Consumer Finance Director

Job Summary:
The Director of Consumer Finance will lead financial planning and reporting processes across the Consumer Business Unit, consolidating information across different products. This role will entail weekly and monthly financial reporting for the full Profit and Loss statement, covering revenue, transaction margin, and operating expenses.
This position will also work closely with finance points of contact supporting Consumer Business Unit products to understand overall drivers and manage risks and opportunities across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide insight into business performance and financial results through timely analysis of trends and key performance indicators.
- Own financial reporting and tracking of overall Consumer Business Unit outlook versus targets, bringing summary of variances and key drivers.
- Manage key Financial Planning and Analysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, regular operating reviews, monthly close, performance reporting, and others.
- Review and communicate performance against defined targets, regularly performing variance and sensitivity analyses on weekly and monthly revenue performance for the Consumer Business Unit.
- Provide consolidated financial tracking, analysis, commentary, and documents to the Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, and other key Business Unit stakeholders to support key deliverables, working in close partnership with various Financial Planning and Analysis and other Finance teams.
- Drive conversations with cross-functional partners, namely the finance points of contact supporting the various Consumer Business Unit products across P2P, Venmo, Shopping/Rewards, as well as intersections with Small and Medium Business and Enterprise segments.
- Set parameters for consolidation and collaborate with Business Unit finance leads to consolidate financials for reporting, budgeting, and analysis.
- Develop, optimize, and standardize Financial Planning and Analysis processes, including coordination of automation opportunities and sharing of best practices.
- Support and drive the planning of investment decisioning.
- Synthesize and communicate the financial narrative for Consumer in executive and Board of Directors presentations.
- Lead and continue to grow a high-performing team.
- Understand what matters most and prioritize ruthlessly.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional experience preferably in Fintech or payments processing businesses.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; MBA/Master's degree or higher in a quantitative field a bonus.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office, specifically with Excel and PowerPoint.
- PayPal is in a dynamic, rapidly changing industry. A proven track record at similarly fluid medium/large-size technology, e-commerce, or financial institutions would be a plus.
- Detail-oriented, highly analytical individual who strives for excellence and wants to be part of a great team.
- Superior relationship building and organizational influence skills in interactions with senior leaders, peers, and business partners across organizations and geographies.
- Organizational savvy. Able to challenge the status quo respectfully, and act as a catalyst within the organization.
- Highly comfortable with fast turnaround times and able to glean insights as well as ability to communicate key details to stakeholders and leaders succinctly.
- Demonstrated experience in reporting and budget processes in matrixed environments.
- Experience distilling complex financial analyses and preparing powerful presentations with a crisp and clear storyline.
- High energy and a true desire to understand the drivers of the business.
- World-class analytical skills to help glean and communicate simple to understand insights from complex data sets.
