IAT Insurance Group Seeks a Skilled Claims Professional

We are looking for a seasoned Claims Counsel to join our Management Liability Claims Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of complex claims, including Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Cyber Liability.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing claims from inception to resolution, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and risk mitigation. You will work closely with our underwriting team to develop and implement effective claims handling strategies, ensuring that our policyholders receive the best possible service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Claims Handling: Analyze, investigate, negotiate, and resolve claims in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Defense Counsel Management: Select, direct, and manage defense counsel, including approval of budgets
  • Litigation Strategy: Develop and implement litigation/file disposition strategies, including mediations, settlement conferences, and trials
  • Coverage Analysis: Verify and analyze applicable coverage for reported claims
  • Reporting: Prepare reports, including Large Loss Reports, to management, highlighting loss development, potential/actual financial exposure, coverage issues, claim and recovery strategies
  • Stakeholder Management: Establish 24-hour contact and maintain appropriate contact with all involved stakeholders throughout the life of the claim file
  • Recovery Opportunities: Identify and address recovery/contribution/SIU opportunities
  • Reserves Management: Set accurate and timely loss/expense reserves in compliance with Claim Guidelines
  • Correspondence: Draft correspondence, including coverage letters to stakeholders as required
  • Business Partnerships: Support business partners on an as-needed basis on various claim and underwriting-related issues and marketing meetings

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate: Must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
  • Bar Admission: Must be properly licensed, registered, or authorized, and in good standing, to practice law in the jurisdiction in which you will be working
  • Management Liability Experience: 3-5 years of management liability claim experience, including handling Employment Practices Liability, Directors and Officers Liability, and Fiduciary Liability coverages
  • Coverage Analysis Skills: Excellent coverage analysis skills with experience in drafting coverage position correspondence
  • Litigation Experience: Experience handling litigated files and direction of defense counsel
  • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills
  • Travel: Ability to travel, averaging 1 day per month
  • Licensure: Licensure as required by respective state(s)
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize work
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, utilize sound judgment to draw conclusions, and make supported decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPCU and Insurance Studies: CPCU and other insurance-related studies

Salary Range: $90,070 - $142,485
