Responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with local and national media outlets
  • Serving as a spokesperson and primary point of contact for external stakeholders and media
  • Proactively seeking and securing media coverage while following up on earned media opportunities/inquiries
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive media database, reporter, and media outlet priorities
  • Writing and distributing media releases in collaboration with external partners and internal staff leadership
  • Developing visual storytelling assets, including photography and videography, to enhance our narrative
  • Seeking and securing community and speaking/public relations engagements for our leadership
  • Tracking and managing our Speakers Bureau
  • Developing building signage and ensuring proper installation at all our sites
  • Developing merchandise, swag, and other materials to engage external audiences
  • Overseeing coordination of activities/project management related to annual agency event(s)
  • Developing and distributing crisis communications plan and talking points for various key leaders
  • Overseeing the supervision and development of the Communications Manager
  • Ensuring publications calendar is executed in accordance with the goals, strategies, deadlines, and budget of the Communications Plan, designating responsibilities and seeking assistance across the agency

Our ideal candidate holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field, and brings at least 5 years of experience in media, communications, or public relations, preferably within a nonprofit setting.
