License and Certification Qualifications:

Must possess Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement certification, successfully complete a criminal history check, psychological evaluation, and polygraph test, along with a valid Georgia driver's license.



Education Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in a relevant field is required or the attainment of an Associate's Degree within three years of employment.

Experience Qualifications:
A minimum of five years of experience in law enforcement is required.

Skills Qualifications:

Proficient communication skills to interact effectively and tactfully with others; strong listening abilities to address the needs of students and staff; capability to thrive in a school environment while engaging with youth, educators, and community members; and the ability to instruct on topics related to drugs, law enforcement, citizenship, criminal justice, safety, crime prevention, and legal matters.



Primary Responsibilities:

The role involves supporting a network of schools by collaborating with school administration and staff to ensure a secure environment for students. This includes proactive measures to prevent safety issues and immediate responses to disruptions or criminal activities, while also fostering respect and understanding of the law among students through education and example.


1. Collaborate with local school administration to maintain a safe environment for students.
a. Equip school leaders and staff with resources to uphold safety standards.
b. Provide training to enhance administrators' preparedness for security-related situations.

2. Serve as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement.
a. Coordinate law enforcement efforts concerning school safety.
b. Engage within a school network.
c. Establish a communication framework among administration, staff, students, parents, and community members.

Act as a positive role model, fostering constructive interactions between students and law enforcement to deter crime.

Stay informed about procedures for interacting with public agencies that may enter schools for legal matters.


4. Work to reduce juvenile delinquency by encouraging positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.

5. Take necessary law enforcement actions to safeguard against unauthorized individuals.

6. Proactively assist administration in developing strategies for a secure school environment for both staff and students.
a. Facilitate safety assessments and improvement plans, including emergency protocols.

7. Organize and conduct emergency drills regularly.
a. Be capable of managing fire alarms during drills or actual emergencies.

8. Advise on appropriate law enforcement measures when legal violations are suspected.

Be available for discussions and consultations with students, parents, and staff regarding law enforcement or crime prevention issues.

a. Provide referrals to other agencies within the school system and community for additional support.

10. Maintain comprehensive records of criminal incidents involving students and report cases of abuse or neglect.

Physical Demands:

The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands for various tasks. The employee must possess acute listening skills to accurately gather information.

Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, and color discernment, with the ability to work in low-light conditions.

Maintaining physical fitness, strength, and stamina is essential for responding to emergencies, restraining individuals, and lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds. The employee will operate a motor vehicle as part of their duties. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
