POSITION SUMMARY

The Technical Manager is accountable for the strategic oversight of planning, coordination, administration, and management of the process engineering, technical, maintenance, and tooling operations at the Clyde facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the department effectively supports plant operations by establishing and maintaining the necessary engineering and technical disciplines to achieve robust manufacturing processes that align with the plant's productivity, delivery, quality, and safety targets. Additionally, the Technical Manager will oversee the planning and coordination of activities within the Maintenance Department to ensure optimal machine repair and operational uptime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the planning, coordination, administration, and management of manufacturing process engineering, maintenance, and tooling functions.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance and repair of all plant equipment, facilities, and grounds.
  • Develop and guide teams comprising the technical manager, maintenance manager, process engineering, and tooling supervisor to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Supervise all personnel involved in process engineering, technical, maintenance, and tooling operations.
  • Establish and maintain departmental standards, methods, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Implement and oversee a comprehensive predictive and preventative maintenance program for all plant assets.
  • Ensure adherence to established procedures and maintain documentation for molding and assembly processes.
  • Direct the accurate documentation of all maintenance procedures, including preventative/predictive maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Manage the organizational structure of the department by assigning responsibilities and delegating authority.
  • Analyze molding and assembly process performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor plant equipment to enhance asset utilization and oversee improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve quality issues related to molding, tooling, and equipment, driving improvements and process modifications that enhance cost efficiency.
  • Oversee the development and validation of new production processes and the enhancement of existing ones.
  • Initiate proposals for new capital equipment or more efficient processing methods.
  • Work with the Plant Leadership Team to define strategic objectives and goals for future manufacturing processes and operations.
  • Manage process evaluations, troubleshooting, and establish engineering protocols.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams during the launch of new programs.
  • Specify requirements for new or upgraded equipment and participate in equipment design alongside designers, vendors, and engineering teams.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership on the strategic plan by monitoring daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual KPI metrics.
  • Oversee personal growth opportunities within the department to support the development of maintenance, process, and tooling teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in plant operations; 10+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with injection molding and heavy industrial tooling is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills with a proven track record.
  • Understanding of plant material feed systems and robotics (Wittmann, UR, and/or Fanuc is advantageous).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in molding machines, materials, equipment, and processes.
  • Strong computer and mathematical skills.
  • Able to manage multiple departments and projects effectively.
  • Ability to perform under tight deadlines.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:

  • Electrical schematics and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills.

SALARY INFORMATION:

$60.10 per hour
