The Town of Niskayuna is seeking a skilled Water and Sewer Maintenance Worker to join our team. This full-time union position offers a competitive hourly rate, opportunities for overtime, and potential for growth into higher-paying roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations on the municipal water distribution and sewage collection system.
- Operate mechanical equipment, including backhoes, loaders, and pumps.
- Locate and repair leaks, install clamps and sleeves, and make other emergency repairs.
- Clean, check, and maintain pumping stations and equipment.
- Install, repair, and reset hydrants, valves, meters, and related water distribution equipment.
- Respond to emergency repair calls and perform related duties as required.
Requirements:
- One year of experience in plumbing work or maintenance of a public or private water distribution and sewage collection system.
- CDL license at the time of appointment and throughout tenure.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
- Willingness to report for emergencies and ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
